The Burger List
This is the 'original' list - it changed over time as more burgers were eaten and rated.
I am going to start a new list where burgers will be broken down into flavour, patty consistency, the bun, additions, condiments, messiness, and overall eating joy.
Ski burger
This is the burger to start it all, a cold skiing day only getting later and later and then an agreement to 'just eat at the next stop' which looked like a fast food stand but opened onto a larger restaurant terrace where we were the only people in. Of course, I chose a burger, and it was GLORIOUS. So much so, we went back later in the week for confirmation of the best burger ever. We thought we knew which resort and where this burger was but, having burger hunted twice now, we cannot find it and it will sit in honour at the top of the list.
Secret Burger Club
Nottingham
This burger only cemented the need for a burger list. The first smash patty burger I'd had in the UK, based off the In-N-Out burger, so good. We first had this at 2 degrees on a cold Light Night in Nottingham, the juicy fats solidified before they hit the wrapper and it was glorious. We went back for seconds and then returned every time they were near!
Honest Burger
Camden
Tribute burger (no bacon, medium well). This was such a great burger, it was so saucy and a little bit salty but that didn't even matter. Honest Burger is quick and affordable, with a standard menu including one unique burger at every restaurant. The rosemary salted fries are a perfect addition (again a bit salty but this is forgiven as they taste so good).
Homeboys
Nottingham
A surprise entry at number four - the chicken katsu. Crispy and also saucy.
Chuck and Blade
Rochester
Again based on the In-N-Out burger I had the Charlie with bacon jam and was a happy happy burger eater. It was not too greasy and I would go back to have it again. Chips were also very crisp.
Five Guys
A controversial entry, I like Five Guys. I like to DIY my food, I like the mess, I like the massive soft drink choice, and the huge portion of chips. It is fast, convenient, always somewhat busy, and I know it will be good.
Honest Chicken
London Waterloo
During Covid-19, Honest Chicken arrived with the buffalo burger and I commented 'the best crunchy munchy moist spicy chickeny goodness' which I think summarises it all.
We Meat Again
Marlborough
I had the Gurt Lush (also on a cold winter evening) and it was a burger to remember. A well cooked, flavourful, smash patty with some sauce. Delightful.
Burgr
Tromso, Norway
Another international choice at number nine.
The Widowmaker (beef patty, with goats cheese, and onion relish) was VERY messy but that flavour was great. It was a medium thick patty which was well seasoned a a good consistency. The milkshakes were great if filling and the chips were crunchy. All round a good meal.
Le Rastro
Mottaret, France
Another ski burger, the Rastro Burger, was recommended by my dad and at number 10 clearly was a good choice. Slightly vinegary (but I don't mind) and the potato bun was falling apart (again, I don't mind mess), the patty was thick but well cooked and soft. The addition of raclette cheese, caramelised onion, and lettuce made me happy indeed.
All the rest...

I will upload these with more rounded comments soon but didn't want to leave them out for now.

-
Patty&Bun - Ari Gold, a solid burger choice, never disappointing (always consistent), bit messy but an all round good choice
-
Ferg burger (Queenstown) - Don’t get rid of the bacon! Hyped up but worth the wait.
-
BurgerFuel (Taupo) - PBJ mmmmm, final bite was like jammy cheese on toast.
-
El Guero by Adam Rawson - crunch from spicy bits and strong salty cheese but good flavour mix and patty - far too salty and too pink on the second run
-
Black bear burger - BBSmash nice and saucy, miso an odd addition maybe too fancy for itself, good patty but fatty flavour
-
Nanny Bill’s - too much salt but good gravy - the dalston dip, no lettuce, no tomato, no fuss.
-
Blå rock (Tromso Norway) - The Pixies feta and balsamic, a good all rounder, nothing exciting but the flavour. Loaded fries were excellent
-
Yen burger - surf’n’turf, didn’t taste lime and chilli, unsure what prawns added, burger a little rare in the middle but overall really yummy, not salty, patty consistency good, sauce great 09/19
-
Meat liquor (London) - revisit!
-
Burger and Lobster - patty a bit solid but good flavour, mycoprotein on plate but tasty.
-
Yen Burger - own burger, quite a stocky patty but good flavour and
-
Honest burger Camden - honest: G cheese truck. Good all round burger, rosemary salted chips, cost +++, filling
-
The Arizona (New Plymouth) - Mac daddy. Patty needed more flavour and some tomato injection. Salt+ but good shakes and a good burger
-
Bleeker Street Burger - good but Swiss cheese odd and a little pinky. Nice though and patty very good consistency. Good chilli zing.
-
Nanny Bills - pulled pork slider, wouldn’t want a whole burger but a lovely slider, yummy though and not too porky.
-
Farm Fresh Burgers & Shakes - Farmfresh burger, fresh meat, thin patty, peppery. Lots of sauce, slightly too sharp. But a decent burger. Shakes good, nice and cold, good size and consistency.
-
Burger liquor (Wellington) - patty yummy but too vinegary from pickle and mustard mayo, good shake. Up one but for vinegar.
-
Burger Fuel (Taupo) - standard beef and cheese. Enjoyable, but lots of fat dropped off so not appealing after. Came with a ‘doofer’.
-
Annie’s (Nottingham) - variety unparalleled - G New England Yankee brisket up up up. Unpredictable burger patty!
-
Simplicity Mac&Co - vegan, once you get over the mushroom hit and if you eat the patty with the bun it’s actually quite pleasant. Good non-meat option
-
Smokey boys (Boxpark Wembley) - good flavour but not special, would have again out of choice
-
Ribs and burger (Sydney) - good, not memorable.
